Excellent character development is as important to the education of a Wellington Day School student as reading, writing and arithmetic. Our mission is to help our students live excellently in all facets of their lives. The following Code of Conduct, which outlines standards to which each Wellington student is expected to adhere, was drafted with this goal in mind.
I will show respect to my teachers at all times in the school. I will show respect and love to all students. I will appreciate my parents and let this appreciation be evident. I will be kind to my siblings. I will always say what is true, even when it seems risky. I will live my life in truth without lying, cheating or stealing. I will gratefully receive instruction at school. I will be helpful. I will treat school property with care and respect. I will freely express myself to others because I know they care. I will be quiet when a teacher is speaking or when I am requested to do so by a teacher. I will not touch another child, except on his or her hand. I will stay with any child I accidentally injure as long as it takes to see them feeling better. I will include others in games and conversations I begin. I will not insist upon being allowed into ongoing games or conversations. I will smile and greet teachers, parents, students and friends when I see them. I will practice sharing regularly. I will practice the 50-50 rule with others (50% my idea, 50% theirs). I will support my friends and teachers. I will not say disrespectful things behind others' backs. I will try my hardest to both learn and finish my schoolwork in a timely manner. I will not be lazy or irresponsible with my homework. I will keep my schoolwork neat and clean. I will show courtesy to others. I will use proper manners as often as possible. I will find things to be happy about. I will smile and laugh as often as I can.
